straight up the block

after much ho'ing and hem'ing and haw'ing in my head, i have settled on the decision that it is not in the better interest of my mental health to travel over the "holidays". last year i made the journey to the hometown area between xmas and new year's, and just a couple of days of train travel and short family visits simply exhausted and drained me. i don't know why, but i want no repeat of it this year. i love my family, and plan to visit them during my birthday next year (p.s. don't hate me mom, thanks for funding the new winter boots, they're awesome). xmas this year - as little stock as i put in it - will be FOR ME.

to this effect, i have compiled a mental list of things i would like to do (hopefully during my xmas week off) before 2006 ends:

  • see Wil (a bird told me you'll be in ottawa soon, Wil; don't try to escape without at least coffee at Elgin)

  • see Josh (travel thousands of kilometres, the least you can do is have a bag o' fries at Patty's Pub with me, heheh)

  • get together with Dana / Jen to jam (not letting you cats off the hook on this one...)

  • work on some recordings that i have been itching to spend some quality time with

  • weather-permitting, go skating on the canal and get a beavertail

  • cook something for xmas dinner

i know. i have kept the list simple and banal so that it remains remotely achieveable.
